Our overall treatment approach is focused on whole-person wellness, and addresses the integrated nature of the mind, body, heart, and spirit, encapsulated by the social elements of healthy connection and a sense of belonging.
Given that our health and wellness has such a tremendous impact on our emotional well-being and our ability to perform our daily tasks, we want to pay attention to some of the health and wellness indicators. Primarily, this is related to our sleep, exercise, diet, and mental processes as well. To be clear, we’re not some “bootcamp” or a physical training program. However, we think it’s helpful to assist students in “connecting the dots” between physical elements and things like our mood or performance.
So what do we do to help connect those dots?

To begin with, each student at STRiV is provided a FitBit – wearable fitness technology that helps track activity, heartrate, sleep, etc. While it is extremely useful for each individual, it can also be used as a fun tool for group challenges, etc. We also provide Yoga and Meditation classes each week to help with the physical and the mental side of health and wellness. While some actually arrive at STRiV a fan of yoga and meditation, many students react to it less…enthusiastically. We get it.

But, we also recognize the advantages and benefits of regular yoga and meditation, and invite all students to at least give it an honest try. One of the therapeutic practices is related to mindfulness. Supplementing therapy with yoga and meditation practices can be a tremendously helpful combination.
