A Structured, In-Person Community in Utah
Our local community in Orem is here to help support students as they branch out and discover who they are. Through volunteer work and academic/vocational activities, students learn the crucial roles they will need for successful independence.
A Focus on Comfort, Accountability, & Continuing Growth
One of our priorities is fostering personal accountability and the desire for continued growth in our students. Students must utilize the coping strategies they learn in real-world situations, such as managing their time wisely.
As such, we don’t place restrictions on tech (unless needed for a process addiction) and have no curfew. Because of this, students experience natural consequences for their choices in a safe environment, which encourages them to make healthier decisions in the future.

Life Skills Development to Help Navigate Real-World Situations
Part of young adulthood is learning how to be independent. Many students who arrive at our programs come directly from high school, which was a strictly controlled environment. Now they must establish self-agency and learn skills that aren’t being taught in schools.
We take a compassionate approach to this problem by teaching our students these skills in a real-world setting. Our program gives them a safe place to try and fail, learn how to try again, and succeed at the tasks they set out to do. Part of life at STRiV includes maintaining a living space, cooking, attending school, holding a job, managing a budget, and other real-world situations students will face once they are independent.

Support for Pursuing Education & Employment
Part of independent living is pursuing further education or preparing for a career. To help our students get a head start, we provide academic and vocational counseling and training. This supports our students as they pursue a future career through work or school.
Develop Skills to Manage Mental Health and Emotional Barriers
Our students are taught to care for their emotional and mental health through holistic modalities, including relaxation techniques, psychoeducation, and individualized therapy. Students eventually leave with a firm grasp on self-care and resources to seek further help as needed.
Personalized Coaching & Mentorship Support
With a 1:4 mentor-to-student ratio, we can address the specific needs of each of our students for optimal therapeutic outcomes. We offer several types of coaching, with life skills and executive functioning coaching being a staple part of our therapeutic living program. Our expert mentors offer personal guidance to students, helping them develop self-awareness and take accountability for their choices.
A Whole-Person Approach to Care
STRiV Forward takes a whole-person approach to care, which addresses each student’s mental, emotional, and physical needs. This approach ensures that each student receives the exact care they need, not just to heal but to thrive as individuals.
Medication Management for Mental Health & Co-Occurring Conditions
Some mental health conditions can be managed successfully with medication. For our students who need medication, we utilize the help of psychiatrists and other clinical professionals for a safe and effective experience. Students who need medication receive frequent check-ins to ensure safety and to make adjustments as needed.

Personalized Individual Therapy
Early intervention and personalized care are the best approaches for helping manage mental health challenges. We utilize evidence-based and effective therapies, such as dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), to help students address and cope with their challenges.
Share Experiences in Group Therapy
Group therapy provides a safe and supportive space for our students to develop support systems and share experiences with their peers. This helps students develop accountability, practice social skills, and see that they are not alone in their struggles.

Recreation & Adventure Activities
Discovering exciting hobbies that bring you joy is part of developing coping skills and socializing. We take full advantage of what Utah has to offer, with hiking, fishing, and backpacking among the many outdoor adventures our students enjoy.
Health & Wellness
A healthy body is just as important as a healthy mind. Students are taught how to exercise, eat a healthy diet, practice sleep hygiene, and relax for optimal health and well-being. Any students needing outpatient treatment for co-occurring mental or medical issues have their needs addressed with our personalized approach to care.

Community Involvement
Students are encouraged to engage with our local community to form natural support systems. Clubs, hobbies, volunteer opportunities, jobs, school, and more are all within reach of our students, helping them grow into well-rounded adults.
Who Is a Good Fit for This Program?
Our program is designed to help students who struggle with independence but are motivated to make lasting changes. We are best able to help students with mild to moderate mental health issues, including past (but not current) substance use. Some of the most common challenges faced by our students include executive functioning struggles, mental health issues such as ADHD or anxiety, or the need for failure-to-thrive support. Students are assessed to ensure they can live safely and semi-independently in our apartments.

Partnering With Families to Support Long-Term Growth
