If there is one common theme among the students at STRiV, it would be this: difficulty with some level of executive functioning.
Executive function and self-regulation skills are the mental processes that enable us to plan, focus attention, remember instructions, and juggle multiple tasks successfully. Just as an air traffic control system at a busy airport safely manages the arrivals and departures of many aircraft on multiple runways, the brain needs this skill set to filter distractions, prioritize tasks, set and achieve goals, and control impulses.
At STRiV, our initial assessment includes an evaluation of twelve executive skills so that we can identify those elements where executive coaching can be most beneficial:

• Working memory
• Emotional control
• Task initiation
• Sustained attention
• Planning/prioritizing
• Organization
• Time management
• Flexibility
• Metacognition
• Goal-directed persistence
• Stress tolerance
If any of these have gotten in the way of your academic success, STRiV may be the right place for you!
