Student Life
Our residential support is a key element to helping students navigate the road toward independence. Our mentors and skills coaches are available to work with each student – “a lot or a little” – helping to develop essential life skills for independent living, and social and academic success.
Apartment Living
Students at STRiV have a private bedroom in a furnished 2-bedroom apartment. The apartments are conveniently located near the university, restaurants, shopping, entertainment, outdoor recreation, and much more.

Social Community
In addition to individual support, STRiV provides community-based opportunities for social growth, connection, and belonging. Many of our students have struggled in the past with social skills, developing or maintaining friendships, etc. While the mind-body-heart-spirit integration is a key factor in personal growth and development, we recognize the power and importance of the social context as well.
Academic Success
One of the simplest tools for measuring how well young adults are managing the demands of moving toward independence is the academic measuring stick. Executive skills, emotion/behavior regulation, distress tolerance, interpersonal challenges, and more have an impact on academic success. Students at STRiV are generally full-time students at Utah Valley University, or in a vocational training program – many of whom are experiencing academic success for the first time in years, or ever.

Access to Life
Most students considering a support program want to know whether they can have a phone, their game system, a laptop, etc. The interaction with others through technology is not going away, and we believe having access to these resources is a pretty normal way to stay connected. If students want or need help managing the effects of technology on their life, we’ll work together to find a helpful strategy.
