Personalized, Compassionate Care
STRiV is a community-based, semi-independent residential treatment program that helps young adults manage their social, emotional, or executive skills challenges that disrupt their transition to adulthood.
Our clinical & programmatic structure confronts the psychological, emotional, relational, and personal barriers that get in the way of moving toward independence and fulfillment. STRiV takes an integrated approach to “whole person” wellness. This means that our programmatic and therapeutic strategies focus on the interconnected nature of the whole – mind, body, heart, and spirit – while recognizing the critical role of healthy connection and a sense of belonging.
This leads to highly individualized treatment – the establishment of a plan meant for each individual student, rather than for a diagnosis. Each treatment plan is created with the student, and involves the entire treatment team, to make sure we’re all on the same page. This may include strategies to help with specific executive skills, incorporate academic benchmarks, include social development, etc.
Overall, STRiV students work to develop emotional awareness, build distress tolerance, practice mindfulness, improve executive functioning, and strengthen family & social relationships.
Therapy
We weave various treatment methods and theories into individual and group work to create desired change. These may include approaches such as:
- Cognitive-behavioral Therapy
- Trauma-Informed Care
- Contemplative and Meditative Practice
- Family Systems Theory
- Dialectical Behavioral Therapy
- Positive Psychology
We believe in key principles and practices that help promote growth and healing, and embrace this work in accordance with our core values: Resilience, Integrity, Courage, and Harmony. Engaging in the process of change requires each student to take a risk – to demonstrate a level of vulnerability, trust, and courage. We take that trust very seriously, and are committed to building positive working relationships and emotional safety within our STRiV community.

Key Principles and Practices
We recognize that there are countless distractions, competing interests, barriers, etc. that complicate the journey toward independence. We also see the purpose in the struggle. Our integrated approach and supportive “scaffolding” are designed to help you clear the way – to open the space for you to reach your goals.
We also know that adhering to principles or “guide posts” help us stay on-course. Some of ours are well-known, others have special and unique meaning to us, but we’re always happy to share our story!
Students who do best at STRīV are ready to clarify their own sense of self, explore their purpose, and experience long-overdue victories. They are willing to try new things, and genuinely test a few ideas, including some of the following concepts, to see if they “fit”:
