A Different Approach to Young Adult Mental Health Treatment

Our program is best suited for emerging adults with challenges not severe enough to require residential or inpatient care, but who need more support than what an outpatient program can offer.
If your loved one is ready to make positive changes and prepare for adult life, STRiV Forward can help.
Our Orem Setting for Young Adult Mental Health Treatment
Although life at STRiV is as close to the real world as possible, students still have access to caring, expert mentors and coaches who help guide them into independence. There’s plenty of time for recreation and socialization in between responsibilities and treatment, allowing students to explore who they are as emerging adults. You can trust that your loved one will not only be safe at STRiV, but also thrive.

Apartment-Style Living That Supports Independence
Students learn responsibility through real-life activities such as purchasing groceries, cooking, and budgeting, with the help of our mentors. This offers a balance of autonomy and support, which builds confidence and self-esteem.

FAQs
Young adult mental health treatment focuses on addressing the unique challenges faced by individuals between the ages of 18 and 28+. This can include mental illness, such as anxiety or depression, and the pressures of transitioning to independence.
Treatment programs for young people focus on providing personalized support, life skills training, and therapeutic interventions to address these challenges. This helps them learn to manage their mental health, build resilience, and learn the skills needed for healthy long-term independence.
STRiV Forward’s mental health program is different from inpatient or residential treatment programs because it focuses on teaching critical life skills for independence, along with providing mental health support.
Inpatient and residential treatment programs are focused on providing medical care and mental health treatment for individuals struggling with severe issues, such as substance use disorders (SUD), substance abuse, and severe unmanaged psychiatric conditions. They are equipped to provide medical services, such as detox, and focus more on stabilization than on teaching long-term independence skills.
Young adults commonly struggle with conditions such as anxiety, depression, and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Mild eating disorders, self-harm (on a case-by-case basis), and process addictions (such as gaming or social media) also affect young adults, which we support at STRiV Forward.
Yes! STRiV Forward utilizes evidence-based therapies, medication management, wellness support, and personalized coaching strategies as part of our mental health programs.
Which treatment options are appropriate will depend on the individual’s needs. Some may need the intensive support provided by inpatient or residential treatment centers. Others may only require outpatient support through a partial hospitalization program (PHP) or intensive outpatient program (IOP).
STRiV Forward offers a therapeutic transitional living program, which provides support to young adults who are stable enough to live semi-independently. It’s perfect for those who have needs not severe enough to need intensive care from a residential treatment program, but need more support than what an outpatient program can offer.
Family members can become involved in their loved one’s care by providing emotional support, participating in family therapy as needed, and keeping up to date on their loved one’s progress.
Yes! STRiV Forward’s therapeutic transitional living program is designed to encourage students to pursue higher education, secure employment, and prepare for a future career with our academic and vocational programs. Students study and go to work while simultaneously receiving mental health support.
Young adults who are stable enough not to need intensive care can benefit from an outpatient program or therapeutic living program. Outpatient programs are flexible and allow young adults to live at home while receiving treatment. Therapeutic living programs may also be appropriate if a young adult needs assistance transitioning into independent living. It provides a safe place for students to live, work, and study while receiving mental health care.
Young adults are carefully assessed and examined by a mental health professional, such as a clinician or psychiatrist, to identify their unique needs and challenges. Then a personalized treatment plan is created to address these needs, which is a collaboration between the young adult, their care team, and sometimes their families. As the young adult receives care, their provider will regularly assess their treatment plan to ensure that it remains effective.
