Mentors provide the wisdom of experience to help guide students to consistently choose healthy options, practice problem-solving, and build emotional resilience in the face of distress.
Families Involvement & Support

Develop Confidence to Face Real-Life Experiences
Students engage in an environment as close to real-life as possible. They must budget, maintain their apartment, wake themselves up for classes, manage their time wisely, and more. This not only encourages accountability but also introduces real-world consequences. Providing a safe place to fail and try again makes failure a natural part of life, which encourages our students to pursue their goals as independent adults.
A Whole-Person Approach to Care
Daily Life in Our Transitional Living Program for Young Adults
We do not utilize curfews or tech restrictions unless it’s for treating a process addiction (screens, video games, etc.). Students are held accountable for their choices, but their choices are theirs to make. This allows for natural consequences and encourages healthy choices.
Evidence-Based Support for Mental Health Conditions
We provide mental and behavioral health care for mild to moderate mental health challenges. Treatment plans are highly personalized and can include outpatient treatment and/or medication management. Our mental health support services are designed to help our students heal, stabilize, and learn to cope with and manage their conditions.

Emotional Regulation & Anxiety Disorders
Depression, Bipolar Disorder & Mood Instability

ADHD & Executive Functioning Challenges
Personality Disorders

Co-Occurring Disorders
Serious conditions that require inpatient care, such as active substance use, are not treated in our programs. However, conditions that are moderate or in the past, such as past substance use or suicidal ideation, can be addressed on a case-by-case basis to ensure student safety.
Is Transitional Living Right for Your Young Adult?
A transitional living program may be right for your loved one if they want to achieve independence but need specialized support and/or a safe place to practice their skills. Sometimes, a space away from family can be the fresh start needed to take independence seriously.
Each student is assessed to ensure eligibility and to determine whether they can safely live semi-independently in our apartments.
Working With Families to Support Long-Term Independence

A Supportive Community for Young Adults to Gain Independence
Here, our students can be young adults who can try, fail, and try again. This builds resilience, encourages students to come out of their shells, and helps them find their place in the world as young adults. There’s a world waiting to be explored, and it begins with a step into our encouraging community.
FAQs
Transitional housing related to addiction treatment and sober living will often utilize drug testing as a method of accountability for its residents. STRiV Forward offers therapeutic transitional housing, but we do not offer addiction treatment for current substance abuse. We are also not an addiction treatment center or offer residential treatment.
However, we do assist students with a previous history of substance use. In these cases, we may offer drug testing as part of our therapeutic living model and to encourage lasting addiction recovery.
The length of stay for each student at STRiV will vary based on their individual needs. Typically, students stay in our program for 12 months, but the average stay lasts between 10 and 14 months.
Families are included in our transitional living program in several ways. Firstly, families are kept up to date on the progress of their loved one through regular communication. They may also utilize family therapy, if needed, along with other resources, such as psychoeducation. Our goal is to help families better understand their loved one, foster healthy boundaries, and promote healthy separation for lasting independence.
Yes! STRiV Forward encourages our students to step out of their comfort zones to engage in adult activities and responsibilities. Students desiring to work or go to school receive specialized support to help them achieve vocational and academic success.
